Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Tuesday afternoon visited six soldiers who are currently receiving treatment after being injured during a counterterrorism operation in Kaiama.
A statement from Government House, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed that the operation also resulted in significant losses for the attackers.
It stated: “Several of the terrorists were eliminated in the fierce encounter in which three gallant soldiers paid the supreme price.”

During the visit, AbdulRazaq reiterated his administration’s support for the armed forces and announced financial assistance for both the deceased and injured personnel.
He approved ₦20 million for each of the fallen soldiers and ₦5 million for each of those wounded.
He described the role of security operatives in protecting the country as invaluable, stating, “The sacrifices of the security forces are priceless.”
The governor also commended the quality of medical care being provided at the Intensive Care Unit of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, one of his administration’s projects, while expressing appreciation to the security agencies for their continued service to the nation.
