The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The confirmation followed his screening on Thursday, a day after his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Darma is expected to replace the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

During plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s communication, after which the nomination was referred to the Committee of the Whole for legislative consideration.
Following the screening process, the upper chamber approved the nomination, clearing the way for Darma’s appointment into the Federal Executive Council.
Darma previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, where he oversaw programmes aimed at building capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
