Manchester United strengthened their push for a return to UEFA Champions League football next season with a 2–1 victory over Brentford in Monday night’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils made a bright start, taking the lead in the 11th minute through Casemiro, whose powerful header put the hosts ahead early in the encounter.
United maintained control for much of the first half and doubled their advantage just before the break, with Benjamin Šeško finding the net in the 43rd minute to give Carrick’s side a comfortable cushion.
Brentford responded late in the game, as Mathias Jensen produced a stunning strike in the 87th minute to reduce the deficit, setting up a tense finish. However, Manchester United held firm to secure all three points.
