Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro will depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, bringing an end to his spell at Old Trafford.
The Premier League side announced the decision on Thursday, paying tribute to the Brazilian’s impact since his arrival from Real Madrid in 2022 in a deal worth £70 million.
Casemiro has gone on to make 146 appearances for United, scoring 21 goals across all competitions.
In a post on social media platform X, the club described the 33-year-old as a “serial winner,” thanking him for his service and expressing hope that his final months in Manchester will end on a positive note.
Casemiro, who won five UEFA Champions League titles during a trophy-laden career at Real Madrid, also reflected warmly on his time in England.
He said Manchester United would remain close to his heart long after his departure.
“From the first day I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love of the supporters,” he said in a club statement. “It is not time to say goodbye — there are still many memories to create over the next four months.”
The midfielder played a key role in United’s League Cup triumph in 2023, scoring the opening goal in the final against Newcastle United as the club secured a top-three league finish.

However, he was absent from the squad that defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final the following season.
One of the club’s highest-paid players, Casemiro reiterated his affection for United in a post on his personal Instagram page, describing himself as “forever” a Red Devil.
“Knowing when to say goodbye matters, especially when you know you will be remembered and respected,” he wrote. “Four months to give my all for this badge and our goal. Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans.”
Manchester United currently sit fifth in the Premier League standings and face leaders Arsenal in their next league outing on Sunday.
