The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that it will convene its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, where key decisions, including the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), will be determined.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
According to the statement, the high-level meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, located at Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.
It added that policy directions for the upcoming admissions exercise will be formally presented by the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa.
Describing the meeting as a critical annual engagement, JAMB said stakeholders will collectively decide the minimum UTME scores acceptable for admission, alongside broader admission guidelines and regulatory policies for tertiary institutions across the country.
“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions is a crucial gathering where stakeholders determine minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions,” the statement read in part.
JAMB further explained that the meeting will set the official framework for the 2026/2027 admission cycle and reinforce compliance with established guidelines across all participating institutions.

Participants expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Also in attendance will be representatives of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education.
In addition, goodwill messages are expected from key education stakeholders, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, the National Youth Service Corps, and other partner agencies.
The statement also confirmed that the event will feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), designed to encourage compliance with admission policies and promote higher standards within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape admission processes for millions of candidates seeking entry into higher institutions in the coming academic session.
