PHOTOS: Troops Arrest Suspected Terrorists, Rescue Kidnap Victims In North-East

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have arrested suspected terrorists, collaborators, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the recovery of explosive devices in North-East.

In Yobe State, troops deployed at Ngamdu apprehended two suspected terrorists, identified as Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20), during ongoing operations in the town.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects had fled from Zamfara State into Yobe. Items recovered from them include mobile phones, a power bank, identification documents, suspected illicit substances, and charms.

They have since been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.

In a related development, troops of the 254 Battalion under Sector 2 arrested a suspected informant linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province at Ngamdu Market.

The suspect, Ali Muhammad (30), who had reportedly been on a watchlist, was found with cash, a mobile phone, identification cards, charms, a knife, and a notebook containing phone numbers believed to belong to terrorist contacts.

The military described the arrest as a significant blow to terrorist intelligence networks in the area.

In a separate operation in Adamawa State, troops conducting a night operation around the Mubi axis arrested five suspected drug peddlers.

The suspects were reportedly found in possession of ammunition and other items, and are currently undergoing further investigation.

In Madagali Local Government Area, troops working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force responded to a kidnapping incident and successfully rescued two victims, Barnabas Apagu (12) and Ruth Apagu (10).

It was gathered that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of other individuals believed to still be in captivity.

Meanwhile, in Kukareta, Yobe State, troops recovered a hand grenade suspected to have been abandoned by fleeing insurgents.

The military stated that the explosive device was safely secured in line with standard military procedures.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their efforts and resilience, urging them to maintain the current pace of operations.

It also reassured the public of its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East, while calling on citizens to continue providing credible information to support security efforts.
