Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have recorded significant operational successes in Kogi State, disrupting suspected terrorist supply routes and intercepting logistics couriers transporting ammunition.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, the achievements followed sustained intelligence-driven operations conducted over the past three months to dismantle terrorist logistics networks within the area.
It was gathered that one of the operations took place on March 29, 2026, along the Jamata–Owara road in Lokoja Local Government Area.
Troops intercepted a motorcycle rider suspected of acting as a logistics courier for terrorist elements.
A search of the motorcycle revealed it had been modified with a hidden compartment designed to conceal ammunition and other items.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to known terrorist networks, prompting further follow-up operations.
In a related development, troops arrested a high-profile suspect, Mathew Elisha, also known as Nasara, who had been on security watch lists for his alleged role in supplying ammunition to terrorist groups.
Troops carried out another operation on April 20, 2026, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected couriers.
Soldiers mounted a snap checkpoint at Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area.
During the operation, a Toyota bus travelling from Makurdi to Obajana was intercepted.

A thorough search led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi.
Security personnel discovered a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition concealed in the vehicle, along with three AK-47 rifle magazines hidden behind the driver’s seat.
Other items recovered include two mobile phones, a driver’s licence, a National Identification Number slip, and an identity card.
The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military authorities say the operations highlight the vigilance and proactive efforts of troops in denying terrorist groups freedom of movement and cutting off their supply chains in the region.
