The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved three Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s transport data management system and improving electricity supply across key economic hubs, including the Onne Port Complex in Rivers State and the Apapa Port Complex in Lagos.
The approvals were made at the FEC meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, May 10, 2026, and announced through the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
Central to the package is the development of a Smart National Transport Data Bank designed to integrate and manage real-time information across road, rail, air, and maritime transport systems.
The platform is expected to improve coordination, enhance cargo tracking, and support more efficient planning and decision-making within the transport sector.

The Council also approved two Independent Power Projects targeted at boosting electricity supply within the Apapa and Onne port corridors.
The intervention is aimed at addressing persistent power challenges that have continued to disrupt port operations, increase operational costs, and slow commercial activity in the two major trade gateways.
Authorities say the projects are structured under the PPP framework to attract private sector investment, close infrastructure gaps, and improve service delivery in critical logistics and energy hubs that play a central role in Nigeria’s import and export activities.
The initiatives form part of broader federal efforts to modernize transport infrastructure, strengthen economic competitiveness, and improve efficiency across key sectors of the economy.
