The Enugu State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Saturday, April 25, 2026, endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term, describing his administration as visionary, pragmatic, and transformative.
The endorsement was made at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, attended by traditional rulers, town union leaders, market associations, professionals, youth, and women groups.
The group also commended President Bola Tinubu’s interventions, infrastructure projects, and appointments in the South-East, particularly in Enugu State, describing them as impactful.
Ohanaeze presented the ofo, a symbol of authority and justice, to Mbah in recognition of his performance.
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, was represented by Livingstone Wechie, while Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, attended and praised the governor.

The group said Mbah had shown strong commitment to infrastructure, economic growth, security, and human capital development, anchoring its endorsement on the zoning arrangement in Enugu State since 1999.
“In recognition of his outstanding performance and strategic vision, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State Chapter, unanimously endorses Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Enugu State,” it stated.
Mrs Ojukwu described Mbah as a visionary leader rebuilding Enugu for long-term prosperity.
The meeting also commended Tinubu’s administration for ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects, including the concession of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, extension of the gas pipeline to Enugu, and reconstruction of major highways in the region.
It also noted federal security appointments of South-East indigenes, including Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (rtd) and Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.
Governor Mbah said the endorsement reflects growing confidence in his administration, adding that his government remains focused on long-term development with over 2,000 ongoing and completed projects across Enugu State.
