Accord Party Denies Tinubu Endorsement, Backs Adeleke For 2027

The Accord Party has dismissed claims that it endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming its support for Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Osun State.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, described the reports as false and misleading.

“There is nothing like that. This is a political party and Governor Adeleke is our candidate. If there is any such endorsement, I assure you that the media will be the first to know,” he said.

Mgbudem added that the party had concluded its National Executive Committee meeting and was finalising modalities for its primaries, noting that aspirants had begun purchasing nomination forms following the release of its timetable and fees.

The clarification follows controversy over a billboard in Iwo, Osun State, which featured images of both Tinubu and Adeleke.

While the All Progressives Congress accused the governor of leveraging the President’s image, Adeleke’s camp denied the allegation.

The party chairman expressed confidence in Adeleke’s performance, stating that the governor enjoys strong public support.

“Everybody in this country knows he has done wonderfully well in the state, and the people are eager to vote for him again,” he said.

Mgbudem also dismissed reports of internal divisions within the party, insisting there is no leadership crisis or factional dispute.

“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no leadership dispute or faction in Accord, and there is no court order in favour of Imumolen or anybody for INEC to comply with,” he added.
