The Osun State Government has urged residents registered as voters in the state but living elsewhere to return home and participate in the August 15 gubernatorial election.
The appeal was made on Monday in Osogbo by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, during the send-off of over 600 holidaymakers returning to Lagos after celebrating Easter in Osun.
The travelers had arrived in the state through the free train services provided by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
Represented by the Special Adviser on Market Affairs to the governor, Eniola Omotosho, Jenyo said the initiative ensures that residents who cannot afford road transport can still spend Easter with their families.
He encouraged beneficiaries of the free train service, as well as other Osun indigenes living outside the state, to return home and vote in the upcoming election.
“Our people from outside the state should please come back home and do the needful. We just need the payback from the people of the states to re-elect his excellency again.
If he can do this for the first time, you can imagine what he will do the second time,” Jenyo stated.
Jenyo also praised Governor Adeleke for sustaining and expanding the initiative, which was first introduced by a previous administration.

“We would like to appreciate the governor of Osun State, just as the passengers have done, for making this happen.
He promised them that it would happen again for the Easter period, and it has,” he added.
He assured that the government would provide the free train service again during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and encouraged interested travelers to stay informed.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, Jenyo said Adeleke has performed well across all sectors and urged residents to support his re-election.
“I want to admonish the people of the states, just like I rightly said now, that his excellency has been tested and proved.
He hasn’t given them more than expected, more than what we thought he could give them. So, I want to implore the people of the states to massively vote for him,” he said.
Over 600 holidaymakers had arrived in Osogbo last Friday through the free train service, which traveled from Lagos via Ogun and Oyo States.
