Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said Akwa Ibom State will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-South region during the 2027 general election.
Akpabio spoke on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Uyo, where Governor Umo Eno formally consulted party leaders ahead of his anticipated re-election bid.
The Senate President described Eno as a peaceful and inclusive leader, saying his style of governance had helped sustain unity within the state’s political space.

He noted that although the governor was not facing any visible opposition for the party’s ticket, he still chose to engage party stakeholders, a move Akpabio said reflected humility and respect for the party structure.
Akpabio also praised the governor’s development efforts, citing ongoing infrastructure projects and the completion of abandoned projects across the state as signs of active governance.
He further congratulated the governor on the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, describing it as a significant achievement for the state.
According to him, the people of Akwa Ibom remain grateful to Tinubu for supporting the emergence of an indigene of the state as Senate President and would demonstrate that appreciation during the next election cycle.
