Wike Dismisses PDP–APM Alliance, Slams Makinde’s “Political 419” Move

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of an alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), describing the claim as false and accusing Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of pushing what he called “Political 419” ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects along the Gomani-Yangoji corridor in Kwali Area Council, Abuja.

According to him, neither the PDP nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is aware of any such political arrangement.

“When I say people are fraudulent, they think I am joking. And that is the 419 we are talking about.
“There is no alliance between PDP and Allied Peoples Movement or any other political party, as the case may be. INEC also knows that there is nothing called a PDP-APM alliance,” Wike said.

The FCT minister insisted that the PDP remains fully independent, pointing to ongoing internal activities within the party, including the screening of presidential aspirants, as evidence that no coalition exists.

He added that critics should wait for the party’s official nomination process to see its true direction.

Wike also targeted Governor Makinde, alleging that he was using the APM platform to pursue a personal presidential ambition that he claimed would not succeed.

“What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to be able to actualise his presidential ambition, which is already dead on arrival,” he said.

He further rejected suggestions linking Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to any coalition talks, maintaining that the PDP–APM narrative was entirely unfounded and politically fabricated.

“It’s unfortunate. We know that has been his game plan, and we would say he cannot fly the flag of PDP,” Wike said of Makinde.

Addressing questions about the political situation in Rivers State and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike downplayed any suggestion of internal crisis, saying party matters were not his concern.

“Sorry for what? Why are you saying ‘problem’ when nobody has told you he has a problem? The man has told you he still remains APC. So what is the problem now?” he asked.

He added that internal affairs of political parties should be left to their members, reiterating his focus on his own political space.

“Ask me about PDP; I will answer you. Because how will you ask me what happens? Assuming he has a problem, it’s their internal affairs,” Wike stated.

During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the 13-kilometre Gomani-Yangoji road, saying it was on schedule for commissioning during the celebration of President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in June.

He also reaffirmed that the administration’s infrastructure drive was extending development beyond Abuja’s city centre into satellite towns, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at discouraging rural-urban migration.
