As the National Assembly primary elections of the All Progressives Congress begin nationwide, the party’s screening committee in Nasarawa State has pledged to conduct a transparent, fair and credible exercise.
The Chairman of the National Assembly Primaries Election Committee in the state, Musa Mohammed Guri, gave the assurance on Saturday during a press briefing held at the party secretariat in Lafia.
Guri explained that the committee was deployed by the national leadership of the APC with a clear mandate to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants seeking tickets for both the Senate and House of Representatives.
He added that the party’s national headquarters had provided a comprehensive register for all 13 local government areas in the state to support smooth verification of eligible delegates during the primaries.
According to him, all card-carrying members across the various federal constituencies are expected to participate actively in the process, while stressing that only legitimate winners will emerge from the exercise as the party’s candidates.
“The electoral officers have been urged to ensure that either the direct primary or consensus mode is followed depending on what is accepted by all the aspirants.

“Therefore, it is a great pleasure to be in Nasarawa State for this very critical party assignment.
We will ensure that the right thing is done throughout the process of the primary elections for both the House of Representatives and senatorial positions,” he added.
Guri also emphasised that all procedures would strictly align with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, urging party members to remain law-abiding, disciplined, and supportive of a peaceful process.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, assured the election committee of full cooperation to ensure a smooth assignment in the state.
He further urged members and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise, warning against any actions that could disrupt the existing peace in the state in the course of political activities.
