NDC Closes Presidential Form Sale, Extends Deadline For Other Positions

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the party extended the deadline for the purchase and submission of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants contesting for seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, State Houses of Assembly, and governorship positions. The new deadline has been fixed for May 24, 2026, instead of the earlier date of May 17.

This development was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Mr Ikenna Enekweizu.

According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have already obtained and completed their Expression of Interest Forms will commence on Tuesday and conclude on May 26.

It further stated that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for all candidates who scale through the screening exercise will begin on Wednesday and also end on May 26.

The party emphasised that there would be no extension beyond the announced deadlines and urged all aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable and guidelines provided.

All aspirants have been instructed to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated centres nationwide, coming along with necessary documents such as educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae. Applicants are also required to submit six copies of all documents.

The statement noted that the screening process would consider factors such as voter preferences, local considerations, competence, capacity, and character of the aspirants.

It also added that the Screening Committee would factor in the party’s affirmative action policy, which supports women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

The NDC further encouraged aspirants to consider consensus arrangements, adding that only those cleared during screening would be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
