PHOTOS: Troops Bust Criminal Hideout, Recover Explosives, Motorcycles In Enugu

Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY II have dismantled a suspected criminal hideout in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The operation, which was carried out in the early hours of Friday, followed credible intelligence reports linking the location to cult-related and other criminal activities in Achi Town, Oji River LGA.

This was contained in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Saturday.

According to the statement, troops stationed in Oji River, working alongside Keystone personnel from the local government area, stormed the residence at about 4:30 a.m. during a coordinated raid operation.

During the operation, security operatives recovered eight motorcycles and two buckets of locally made gunpowder suspected to have been prepared for criminal operations.

The suspects arrested are Mr. Ozor Benjamin, 85, from Isikwe Achi; Mrs. Miracle Eze, 26, and Mrs. Ogechukwu Okorie, 29, both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA of Enugu State.

The military added that the suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to Keystone authorities in Oji River for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The military described the operation as part of sustained efforts by Operation Eastern Sanity II and other security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace in the South East region.

The military reiterated the resolve of troops to continue offensive operations against criminal elements while urging residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
