Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded major operational successes across the North-East theatre, including the neutralisation of suspected terrorists, rescue of abducted victims, recovery of arms and explosives, and arrest of criminal collaborators.

The operations, carried out under Operation DESERT SANITY and other coordinated missions, targeted terrorist enclaves and criminal hideouts in several communities across the region.

According to a statement issued on Friday and shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Saturday, by the Media Information Officer, Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Sani Uba, troops supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) launched coordinated offensives in the Valle, Ashigashiya and Gakara general areas.

During the operations, troops reportedly engaged suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in fierce gun battles, killing two insurgents, while others fled towards the Ngoshe axis.

The military stated that no casualties were recorded among the troops.

In a separate encounter along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, troops intercepted suspected terrorists and neutralised one insurgent. Security forces recovered a radio set and a mobile phone from the scene.

The military also announced the rescue of an eight-year-old boy, identified as Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on the Ngoshe community.

Troops conducting operations along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor rescued the child and reunited him with his family after medical evaluation.

Similarly, troops operating around Uvaha village along the Gwoza–Limankara axis rescued a 20-year-old Fulani man, Dahiru Ahamdu, who had been held captive by terrorists.

According to the military, the victim escaped following heavy artillery bombardments by troops targeting terrorist camps in the Mandara Mountains.

Ahamdu disclosed that he was abducted on May 8, 2026, while grazing cattle at Bororo village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The military said the artillery strikes neutralised two insurgents and forced the terrorists into disarray, creating an opportunity for the victim to escape.

He was later medically examined and reunited with his family through community leaders.

In another operation at Buni Gari, troops acting on intelligence recovered a cache of explosives abandoned by fleeing insurgents in the Magza area.

Recovered items include four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb and four 60mm mortar bombs.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams later secured the explosives.

Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones, suspected illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quran booklet and a locally made firearm.

A Dane gun earlier reported stolen was also recovered and returned to its owner after verification.

Security operatives also arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market with six allegedly rustled cattle.

Operation HADIN KAI said troops across the North-East theatre remain on high alert and committed to sustained offensives aimed at denying terrorists and criminal groups freedom of action.
