Otti Commissions 14 New Roads In Aba, Residents Jubilate

Residents of Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, erupted in celebration as Governor Alex Otti commissioned 14 newly completed road projects across the city, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic transformation.

The governor disclosed this in a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, describing the projects as a major step toward repositioning Aba and unlocking the economic potential of Abia State.

According to Otti, the roads commissioned span across Osisioma, Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas.

The projects include Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road, Assemblies of God Church Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Ring Road, Etche Road, Mosque Road, Crystal Park Road and Kingdom Hall Street.

He said the projects were aimed at improving connectivity, easing traffic congestion and supporting industrial growth within the city.

Reflecting on the transformation of Geometric Road, the governor recalled that the road was previously in a deplorable condition but has now become a thriving corridor lined with industries and business opportunities.

Otti also noted that Afule Road was strategically designed as a bypass to reduce pressure on the busy Aba–Owerri Road, while Adaelu Road demonstrated the speed and efficiency of his administration’s project execution.

The governor further announced the flag-off of the first phase of the 4.9-kilometre Aba Ring Road project under the Greater Aba Development Authority.

He explained that the strategic bypass would help decongest the Aba metropolis, improve access to neighbouring states such as Akwa Ibom and Cross River, while driving urban renewal and economic expansion.

Otti stated that all the projects were constructed with quality features including proper drainage systems, street lighting and durable infrastructure standards.

“As we mark three years in office, these projects are proof of growth and progress, opening new pathways to prosperity for our people. Aba is rising, and together we are shaping the future Abia deserves,” the governor said.
