President Bola Tinubu has congratulated elder statesman, Alhaji Ashafa Ajibola Erogbogbo, on the occasion of his 100th birthday, describing his centenary as a rare blessing and a testament to a life of discipline, integrity and dedicated service to humanity.
The President’s message was contained in a State House press statement shared on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via X.
In the statement, Tinubu praised Erogbogbo for his contributions to national development through decades of public and private sector service.
“Reaching 100 years is a remarkable milestone, a rare blessing, and a reward for a life of discipline, dedication, integrity, and selfless service to humanity and the nation,” the President stated.
Tinubu noted that the centenarian served at the Government Printing Press, the Nigeria Customs and Excise Service, and later at Shell Nigeria, where he retired as an aviation supervisor.
According to the President, Erogbogbo distinguished himself throughout his career through professionalism, diligence and commitment to excellence.
“I join your family in giving glory to God for your century-long journey and your contributions to national development, particularly through your service years at Government Printing Press, Nigeria Customs and Excise and later Shell Company Nigeria Limited,” Tinubu said.

The President also acknowledged Erogbogbo’s influence as a respected community leader in Ikorodu, noting that his wisdom, mentorship and exemplary lifestyle continue to inspire younger generations.
Tinubu further highlighted that the celebrant is the father of Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
“It is noteworthy that you, the father of Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), remain sharp of mind and warm of spirit at this advanced age,” the statement added.
The President expressed joy with the celebrant’s family, including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they marked the historic occasion.
Tinubu also said he looked forward to reading Erogbogbo’s autobiography titled Echoes of Grace: The Journey of a Century, which was published in commemoration of the milestone birthday.
“As you celebrate this milestone, I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to sustain you with good health, peace, strength, and happiness,” the President stated.
