Speculation over a possible political pairing between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Ovation Magazine publisher Dele Momodu has intensified following a post on X by Momodu on Monday, June 8, 2026.
In the post, Momodu projected the 2027 presidential race as a likely showdown between Atiku and the incumbent president and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also acknowledging the possibility of a “third force” he said would struggle to unseat both leading camps.
His remarks have been widely read in political circles as an indirect reference to Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Momodu, who recently met Atiku in Abuja, used the post to argue for a reconfiguration of Nigeria’s political alignment, calling for stronger bridges between the North and South as well as between established politicians and technocrats.

He also suggested he could be part of such an arrangement, describing a potential Atiku–Momodu ticket as a unifying platform capable of easing ethnic and regional tensions.
“There’s no better combination than this duo,” he wrote, adding that the country needed to return to “robust ideas” and ideological politics inspired by Nigeria’s founding leaders, including Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Atiku, who has reportedly secured the ADC presidential ticket, has not announced a running mate, and there is no official confirmation linking Momodu to the position.
The development continues to generate discussion across political and social media spaces as positioning ahead of the 2027 elections gathers momentum.
