President Bola Tinubu has called on residents of the Federal Capital Territory to fulfil their obligations by paying land charges and ground rents, stressing that such compliance would enable the government to deliver more infrastructure projects across Abuja.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Dape District Section of Arterial Road N5, stretching from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, Tinubu said revenue generated from land-related payments was crucial to sustaining development in the territory.
“Clear your land fees and ground rents. Your compliance gives the FCT Administration the strength to build more roads like this one,” he said.
The President explained that the newly commissioned road underscored his administration’s determination to complete key projects rather than abandon them before completion.
Reflecting on the inauguration of an earlier phase of the road in 2025, Tinubu said the government had remained committed to delivering the entire project as promised.
“On that day, I pledged not to leave this vital artery half-done. Because the Renewed Hope Agenda is not about abandoned projects, it is about delivery from start to finish.
“And so today, we are back. We are back to close the circle. We are back to commission the Dape District Section of Arterial Road N5, from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III,” the President stated.
He noted that the road contract was awarded in October 2024 and completed within the agreed timeline, describing the achievement as proof of a renewed commitment to efficient project execution.
According to Tinubu, the road will enhance connectivity among Dape, Karmo, Gwarinpa, Kado, Mbora and Idu, while also stimulating economic growth by improving access to commercial and industrial hubs.
“Beyond that, this road opens a direct gateway to the Idu Industrial District. That means lower logistics costs for businesses, new investment, and more jobs for our people,” he said.
The President also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his role in accelerating infrastructure development across the territory.

“Minister Wike, you and your team have shown what happens when political will meets accountability. We fund projects to see results, not to listen to grammar,” the President stated.
Earlier, Wike highlighted the increasing scale of project delivery in the FCT since the Tinubu administration came into office, noting that project commissioning activities had expanded significantly over the past three years.
“On June 24, 2024, when we had the first anniversary of Mr President, we took nine days of commissioning of projects.
“On the second anniversary, we took 19 days. To the glory of God, in this third year, we are touching 31 days of commissioning of projects,” Wike said.
The minister stated that government infrastructure efforts were no longer concentrated solely in Abuja’s city centre, adding that satellite communities were now benefiting from increased development initiatives.
He also rejected criticisms regarding compensation for structures demolished during the execution of the road project, maintaining that all affected property owners who qualified for compensation had been duly paid.
The road inauguration was one of several activities organised to commemorate the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.
