The ICPC is prosecuting El-Rufai over allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct linked to projects carried out during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
The commission claims that public funds were allocated to projects that were either not executed as approved or were handled in violation of due process and financial regulations.
According to the agency, its investigation uncovered irregularities in the management of state resources within the period under review.
The prosecution plans to rely on documentary evidence, financial records, and witness accounts to support its allegations.
El-Rufai has denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that all decisions taken during his administration complied with the law and established procedures.
The matter remains one of the most closely followed corruption cases involving a former state governor. The court adjourned proceedings for continuation of hearing.
