Ekiti Poll: Adeleke, Osun APC Congratulate Oyebanji On Re-Election

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended congratulations to his Ekiti State counterpart, Biodun Oyebanji, following his emphatic victory in the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.

In a statement made available in Osogbo on Sunday, Adeleke said the renewal of Oyebanji’s mandate reflected widespread confidence in his leadership and performance during his first term in office.

He added that the governor’s landslide victory signified public approval of the progress recorded under his administration, noting that it would enable him to deepen ongoing development efforts.

“My congratulations to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his decisive victory in the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.

The victory is a mark of acceptance of his leadership and confidence in him to deliver more progress for the state.

On behalf of the Government and the good people of Osun State, I rejoice with my brother governor and share the optimism of Ekiti people that his next term will be a continuation of the impactful services that marked his first term,” Adeleke said in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

Also reacting to the outcome, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress described Oyebanji’s re-election as a clear indication that voters in Ekiti opted for continuity in governance and development.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the party said the result further reinforced the APC’s standing as a dominant political force in the South-West.

The statement read, “The re-election of Governor Oyebanji is an indication that the people of Ekiti have absolute confidence that the APC government is trusted, dependable, hardworking and preferable.

“May God continue to be the pathfinder of Governor Oyebanji in his continued efforts to attract qualitative governance to the South-Western state, where the people have just spoken aloud with their votes in support of the progressive government.

“We, however, observe that the superlative showing of the APC in the just-concluded Ekiti State governorship election has sent jitters to the leadership, rank and file of the Accord Party in Osun State, which performed woefully in the election in Ekiti State yesterday.”

Meanwhile, an APC chieftain in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said the outcome of the Ekiti election would serve as a template for the party’s success in the upcoming Osun governorship poll.

He described Oyebanji’s victory as a strong endorsement of his performance, while expressing confidence that the APC would replicate a similar result in Osun’s governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

Oyintiloye also commended the leadership of the party’s National Working Committee led by Nentawe Yilwatda and Ajibola Basiru for strengthening party structures nationwide.

He further praised former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for sustaining party cohesion and engagement since leaving office in 2022.

“Oyetola has maintained engagement with party members, stakeholders and interest groups, thereby strengthening the party’s structure and boosting the confidence of members ahead of the August 15, 2026 poll.

“The Ekiti result has shown that when a party is united, focused and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes very easy.

It is a clear lesson for us in Osun that teamwork, dedication and collective responsibility are indispensable for electoral success,” he said.

The election was won by Oyebanji, the APC candidate, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the early hours of Sunday, securing a second term with a total of 319,224 votes.

His closest opponent, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 40,543 votes.
