Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE, in collaboration with operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, have foiled a suspected terrorist attack at Tor Donga Yam Market in Benue State, neutralising two terrorists and recovering arms and ammunition.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, June 28, following a distress call received by the troops while conducting fighting and confidence-building patrols in the area.
According to a statement by the Acting Media Information Officer HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, troops swiftly moved to the location where they made contact with the terrorists and engaged them in a firefight.
It was gathered that two terrorists identified as Dantaraba and Golozo were neutralised.
Troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one damaged pistol, one pistol magazine, six rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, an ATM card, a Moniepoint ATM card and other personal items.

The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage and swift response, noting that their action helped avert possible civilian casualties and disruption of economic activities.
He also praised the contribution of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard in supporting security operations and efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
Gara appreciated members of the public for providing timely and credible information that assisted the operation, urging residents to continue cooperating with security agencies.
He reiterated that security remains a collective responsibility and called for sustained collaboration in the fight against terrorism and criminality across Benue State.
