Troops Kill Two Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Arms In Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two Lakurawa terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Kebbi State.

The operation, conducted on 27 June 2026 in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State, was part of ongoing military efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and improving security across the North West region.

This was made known in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, Lt. Aliyu Danja, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that the terrorists were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community.

Acting swiftly on the information, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 moved into the area and established a tactical ambush along the suspected route of advance of the terrorists in a bid to disrupt their planned operation.

It was gathered that the suspects were engaged by the troops in a fierce gun battle.

A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of several weapons and operational items belonging to the terrorists.

Items recovered include AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens and sustaining aggressive operations against terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North West.

The Joint Task Force also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would assist ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
