Troops of Sector 9 Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued eight kidnapped victims from kidnappers’ hideout at Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The rescue operation was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, following credible intelligence on the presence of kidnappers operating within the forest.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer,
Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, on Friday.
According to the statement, troops deployed in Namu Town, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, launched a deliberate offensive operation at about 3:00 a.m. to dislodge the criminals and rescue the victims.
During the operation, the troops engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle after the criminals opened fire sporadically while attempting to escape.
It was gathered that during the gunfight three of the abducted victims managed to break free from captivity and escape.

The military stated that troops rescue five additional victims and bringing the total number of rescued persons to eight.
The rescued victims are currently in safe condition and efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.
The Joint Task Force said troops are currently pursuing the fleeing criminals with the aim of apprehending or neutralising them.
Operation ENDURING PEACE commended residents for their cooperation and called for continued collaboration with security forces to disrupt criminal activities and restore lasting peace across the joint operations area.
