Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said Nigeria’s progress depends on producing a new generation of leaders who are committed to integrity, sacrifice and good governance.
Obi made the remarks in a Facebook post on Sunday, June 28, following his engagement with students of Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State.
Reflecting on the interactive session, the former Anambra State governor said the students raised questions that mirrored the concerns of many young Nigerians over poor governance and corruption, which he noted have continued to limit opportunities for the country’s youth.
Despite those concerns, Obi said he was inspired by the optimism, resilience and determination displayed by the students, expressing confidence that young Nigerians still have the capacity to drive national development.

He argued that leadership remains the most important factor in shaping the fortunes of any nation, stressing that those entrusted with public office must combine integrity, competence, capacity and compassion with a readiness to place the interests of citizens above personal gain.
“Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who are committed to protecting lives, investing in education, creating opportunities and building strong institutions.
“Together, by raising a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams that is Possible,” Obi stated.
