One person has been killed and another sustained gunshot injuries after suspected armed bandits attacked Rinyan Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, were deployed to the area following reports of the attack.
According to multiple reports on Sunday, troops discovered the lifeless body of one victim, while another resident who had suffered gunshot wounds was evacuated to the General Hospital in Riyom for urgent medical treatment.
During the follow-up operation, however, soldiers arrested one suspect believed to be connected to the attack.

The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
Security sources said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the armed group involved in the assault.
The latest incident comes amid sustained military operations across Plateau State aimed at tackling banditry, communal violence, and other forms of criminality, with troops maintaining pressure on armed groups operating in the region.
