Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled multiple coordinated attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists to infiltrate communities on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, in the early hours of Friday.
The military said the attempted attacks targeted Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on July 10.
In a statement, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammad Goni, said troops intercepted the advancing terrorists after receiving early warning intelligence.
According to him, security forces engaged the insurgents from multiple directions with sustained and accurate firepower, preventing them from gaining access to the affected communities.
Goni added that troops also foiled separate infiltration attempts by terrorists in Miringa and Dutsen Kura, both located in the Buratai area.
He disclosed that during a pursuit operation in Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, no soldiers were injured, and the operational situation remained under control.

The military spokesperson said the swift tactical response forced the terrorists to abandon their mission and retreat across all fronts.
He noted that clearance and exploitation operations were ongoing to track down the fleeing insurgents, secure the affected areas, and prevent further threats to nearby communities.
Goni reaffirmed the commitment of Operation Hadin Kai to sustaining offensive operations aimed at denying terrorist groups freedom of movement while protecting lives and property across the North-East.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
