The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed a terrorist attack on Tsamiya town in Kebbi State, during which several structures were destroyed and a resident abducted.
According to the police, the attack occurred late on Saturday, June 20, 2026, when armed assailants invaded the community, firing sporadically and setting multiple properties ablaze.
Among the structures destroyed were a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a local brothel, and the residence of a community member identified as Sule Mai Goge.
The attackers also abducted a resident, Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare, before fleeing the area.
Confirming the incident in a statement issued in the early hours of Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel to reinforce security in the affected community.
“The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026,” Usman stated.
He explained that security agencies responded swiftly after receiving reports of the attack and moved to secure the area and protect residents.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the deployment of additional security forces to secure lives and property,” he said.
The police spokesman disclosed that a full-scale investigation had commenced and that efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“A comprehensive investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing,” he added.
The command assured residents of Tsamiya and neighbouring communities that security operations would continue until peace and normalcy are fully restored.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
Authorities said further updates would be provided as investigations and rescue efforts progress.
