United States Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have announced the arrival of their fourth child, a son named Alec Neel Vance.
The Vice President shared the news on Sunday, July 19, saying the baby and his wife were both healthy following the delivery. He added that their three other children were excited about the arrival of their younger sibling.
Vance also acknowledged the efforts of the medical professionals who assisted during the birth, praising personnel from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their support and care.

The newborn expands the Vance household, with the couple now parents to four children. JD and Usha Vance, who got married in 2014, previously welcomed Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel before the birth of their latest child.
The arrival of Alec Neel Vance represents a notable milestone for a sitting U.S. vice president, as Vance becomes the first person in that office in more than a century and a half to have a child born during a term as vice president.
Vance, a former author whose memoir Hillbilly Elegy brought him national recognition before his political career, became vice president after running alongside President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
The announcement attracted messages of goodwill from political figures, supporters and members of the public, who congratulated the Vice President and his family on the new addition.
