The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he was involved in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal groups.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps in a statement signed by its Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko.
According to the Army, preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the alleged illicit activities after he absconded from his duty post at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory.
The statement disclosed that Amutu deserted his unit on June 3, 2026, prompting military authorities to declare him wanted while efforts continue to track and arrest him.
The Army said the suspect would face a comprehensive investigation and appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with existing military laws once apprehended.

Reaffirming its stance against misconduct, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps said it maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline or any act capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the military or endangering national security.
It warned that any personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled military items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Army also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in locating the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Corps reiterated its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that it would continue to strengthen internal control mechanisms while ensuring that every allegation of misconduct is thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice.
