The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed as false a viral message claiming that it had opened a special redeployment window for corps members.
The scheme issued the clarification on Friday through its verified X handle, where it labelled the circulating notice as fake and cautioned members of the public against relying on it.
The misleading message, titled “URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT,” was addressed to “Parents/Guardians” and alleged that a redeployment window had been opened due to “issues of National Security, Health, and State of the Nation.”
It further urged “Corps Members with genuine grounds” to “apply on time to ensure their safety, proper placement, and timely completion of service.”
The fake notice also instructed applicants seeking assistance to “please contact” two listed phone numbers “ASAP,” stating that “valid documents are required and all applications must follow NYSC guidelines.”

Reacting to the development, the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters shared the notice on its verified X account, @officialnyscng, with the heading “Disclaimer” and prominently marked it with a “FAKE NEWS” watermark to alert the public that the information was not authentic.
As of the time of filing this report, the scheme had not identified those responsible for creating or circulating the fraudulent message.
The incident is the latest in a series of attempts by scammers to exploit the NYSC redeployment process in order to defraud corps members and their families.
Under the leadership of Director-General Olakunle Nafiu, the NYSC has repeatedly maintained that all deployment and redeployment requests are processed only through its official portal and designated offices. It has also stressed that it does not approve agents or phone-based channels to handle such applications.
The scheme advised corps members and the general public to confirm the authenticity of any NYSC-related announcement through its official website and verified social media platforms before responding or making any payments.
