The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has debunked a fake recruitment notice circulating online, warning applicants not to fall for misleading claims about the next stage of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
The board issued the disclaimer on Sunday through its official X account, where it shared the viral notice stamped with a bold red “FAKE” watermark to alert the public.
The forged announcement falsely claimed that candidates who participated in the recent medical screening would be able to check their recruitment status on the board’s recruitment portal from Monday, August 3, 2026.
It also alleged that successful applicants would proceed to the next stages of the recruitment process, including fitness assessments and oral interviews.

To make the document appear authentic, the fraudsters attached an electronic signature purportedly belonging to the Secretary of the Board, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), and dated it August 1, 2026.
Reacting to the development, the CDCFIB categorically disowned the document and advised applicants to ignore the false information. The board stressed that all official updates regarding the recruitment exercise would only be released through its verified communication platforms.
The warning comes as the board continues its 2025 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
The nationwide recruitment, which has attracted thousands of applicants, has already progressed through the physical and medical screening stages. The medical screening exercise was held on June 22, 2026.
The board noted that no official announcement has yet been made regarding the next phase of the recruitment process and urged applicants to remain vigilant against misinformation and fraudulent recruitment updates.
