The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across Katsina, Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Osun and Kwara states, leading to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and stolen vehicles.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a state-by-state operational summary issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
In Katsina State, police operatives on August 12 repelled an attack by heavily armed bandits who invaded neighbouring communities and rustled livestock.
According to the police, the operatives engaged the attackers in a prolonged gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the bush with suspected gunshot wounds. One motorcycle belonging to the bandits was recovered during a subsequent clearance operation.
The State Criminal Investigation Department, Katsina, is investigating the incident.
Also in Katsina, police arrested three suspected members of a vehicle theft syndicate and recovered a golden-coloured Volkswagen Golf Wagon allegedly stolen from Garko Local Government Area of Kano State.
Two fabricated master keys were also recovered from the suspects, with the case currently under investigation by the SCID Katsina.
In Rivers State, police officers conducting patrols along Ada-George in Port Harcourt arrested a suspect accused of impersonating a military officer and involvement in vehicle theft.
Four vehicles suspected to have been stolen were recovered from the suspect, alongside an axe and military accoutrements. Police also discovered that the chassis and engine numbers of the vehicles had allegedly been tampered with.
The SCID Port Harcourt is handling the investigation.
Kano State recorded two separate operations on August 13.
In Jajaye Local Government Area, five suspected armed robbers were arrested following credible intelligence. Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to cases of criminal trespass, conspiracy and armed robbery in Jajaye and surrounding communities.
The suspects reportedly confessed to stealing about five motorcycles and other valuables.
In another operation in Kano, police intercepted a suspicious parcel at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park following intelligence received by the command.
A search of the parcel led to the recovery of a Tokarev pistol loaded with 48 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. A suspect was arrested and allegedly told investigators that the firearm and ammunition were being sent to another person in Kebbi State.

Both cases are being investigated by the SCID Bompai.
In Anambra State, two suspects escaped after abandoning a motorcycle and a bag when they encountered police officers conducting stop-and-search operations at Isuanaocha Bridge.
The suspects reportedly fled into the bush after sighting the police team. Officers subsequently searched the abandoned bag and recovered two fabricated Beretta pistols, among other items.
The SCID Awka has commenced an investigation and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, police operatives in Osun State arrested a suspect following an intervention in a dispute involving the suspect and another person at Okuku.
A search conducted during the operation resulted in the recovery of a single-barrel firearm from a white Hilux vehicle allegedly belonging to the suspect.
The matter is being investigated by the SCID Osogbo.
In Kwara State, police operatives intervened in a violent communal dispute at Elere Village, Bani, and succeeded in restoring calm.
Two people who sustained injuries during the clash were evacuated to a hospital for medical attention, while the SCID Ilorin took over the investigation.
The police said the operations demonstrate the Force’s continued efforts to tackle banditry, armed robbery, vehicle theft, illegal possession of firearms and other crimes across the country.
The Force urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that effective policing requires cooperation between law enforcement officers and citizens.
