Aiyedatiwa Rebuilds Ondo Political Structure, Names 1,000 Aides

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of a commissioner-designate, three special advisers and 1,000 political aides.

The appointments, announced Thursday, August 20, 2026, comprise 90 Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and 910 Special Assistants (SAs), according to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba of Akoko North-West Local Government Area was nominated as Commissioner for Special Duties, subject to screening and confirmation by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The governor also appointed Abimbola Fajolu as Special Adviser on Environment, Chief Ade Adeniyi on Rural and Community Development, and Muyiwa Ogunyemi on Transport.

The new SSAs will oversee areas including women mobilisation, forestry, community engagement, students’ affairs, youth empowerment, oil and gas, scholarships and grassroots mobilisation.

The appointments take immediate effect, while the full list of the 90 SSAs and 910 SAs will be released later.

The move follows Aiyedatiwa’s March 30, 2026 restructuring, which saw the termination of all existing political aide appointments and plans announced for a new 1,000-member team across Ondo’s 203 wards and 18 local government areas.

The latest appointments mark the rollout of that restructuring as the administration seeks to strengthen grassroots engagement and government coordination.
