A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre over the alleged rape and death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
The court granted the remand application on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the conclusion of investigations into the circumstances surrounding Agbro’s death.
Counsel representing the deceased’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
According to Ideal, the court ordered that Ogbonna remain in custody and be produced before it as proceedings continue.
She also disclosed that the autopsy and toxicology reports conducted in connection with the case had been released to the police investigation team.
Ideal said the reports, along with other evidence gathered during the investigation, had been incorporated into the case file prepared for prosecution.
She noted that the matter would now proceed to the prosecution stage under the supervision of the Delta State Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.
“I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” Ideal said.
She further pledged to keep the public updated as the legal process progresses, stressing that “justice is everyone’s business.”
The development was also confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Ossai said Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional facility following the court’s decision.
The case has attracted significant public attention following allegations that Agbro was raped after travelling to Asaba for a content creation training programme reportedly advertised on social media.

Reports indicate that Agbro allegedly met Ogbonna and was subsequently taken to a hotel, where she accused him of rape and assault.
After returning home, the 20-year-old reportedly informed her parents about the alleged incident and made a video in which she recounted her account of what had happened.
She later ingested a toxic substance and died.
Following a petition by Agbro’s family, the Delta State Commissioner of Police reportedly directed the Effurun Area Command to investigate the allegations.
Ogbonna was subsequently arrested as police commenced investigations into the case.
The autopsy and toxicology examinations were conducted as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Agbro’s death and determine the evidence relevant to the allegations.
With the latest court order, the case has moved beyond the police investigation stage, with the Delta State Ministry of Justice expected to take over the prosecution process.
Ogbonna remains presumed innocent and will be entitled to a fair trial unless and until a competent court determines otherwise.
