Former Big Brother Naija Season 5 (Lockdown edition) housemate, Neo Akpofure, has threatened legal action against a social media user over an allegation of rape made against him on X, demanding a public retraction and apology within 48 hours or face a defamation suit.
In a letter dated February 18, 2026, signed by Chief Victor O. Idiapho for E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., the reality TV star’s solicitors described the allegation as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory,” warning that failure to comply with their demands would result in immediate legal proceedings without further notice.
The letter was addressed to Ms Arikan Udoka, who operates the X handle “the violently wicked (@notralia).” According to the lawyers, Udoka had posted on February 17, 2026, alleging that Akpofure raped her while they were both at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).
The post, which has since been deleted, read in part: “@NeoAkpofure is also a rapist. He raped me in UNICAL. He should come out and deny it. We were casual sex buddies with the clause that he wasn’t in a relationship. I found out he was and went to his apartment to confront him. So he raped me. Neo come and say you didn’t do it.”
Reacting, Akpofure’s solicitors argued that the publication acknowledged a prior consensual sexual relationship but went on to accuse him of rape, which they described as a grave criminal offence.
“It is clear from the above content that you admitted that you and our Client were engaged in a casual, consensual sexual relationship (‘casual sex buddies’). Notwithstanding this admission, you falsely accused our Client of rape,” the letter stated.
The lawyers maintained that the allegation portrays their client as a sexual offender and criminal, exposing him to public ridicule, reputational damage, emotional distress and professional harm.

They further stated that the post constitutes actionable libel under Nigerian law and exposes the user to significant civil liability and potential criminal sanctions.
The legal team demanded the immediate deletion of the alleged defamatory post from X and any other platform where it may have been shared; a clear and unequivocal public retraction stating that the allegations were false; a public apology acknowledging that the statement was untrue and injurious; and a written undertaking refraining from making further defamatory statements about their client.
The letter warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would trigger immediate legal action.
The allegation surfaced amid heightened public discourse on sexual assault following a separate viral claim by a TikTok user, Mirabel (@mirab351), which sparked the hashtag #StopRapingWomen and prompted many users to share their experiences.
