Ramadan 2026: Sufi Cleric Urges Muslims To Do Good Deeds

The Founder and Grand-Sheikh of the Caring and Sharing Sufi Centre (Muslims in Light Organisation), Rasheed Akinbile, has congratulated Muslims in Oyo State, Nigeria and across the world on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan, urging them to dedicate the holy month to spiritual renewal and good deeds.

Akinbile gave the charge in his Ramadan message delivered on Tuesday at the City Zawiah, Challenge, Ibadan. The message was made available to journalists on Wednesday.

He called on Muslim faithful to engage in ceaseless remembrance of Allah and adhere strictly to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an as they observe the month-long fast.

According to him, Ramadan is a period of spiritual consciousness, renewal and growth through complete devotion to Allah, adding that it offers an opportunity for spiritual cleansing and deeper awareness of God.

“Muslims should take full advantage of the holy month to build up their faith and commitment to Allah to attain the awareness (Maarifah) of Him and consciousness (taqwa) in Allah for them to be able to reap the benefits embedded in the month, which are redemption, freedom, peace, harmony, tranquillity, happiness, salvation and enlightenment,” he said.

He congratulated Muslim faithful for witnessing another Ramadan, expressing gratitude to Allah for making it possible.

Akinbile urged MuslimsMuslims to have a personal experience of Allah through meditation and reflection on the Qur’an, stressing the importance of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) as a means of attaining purification and righteousness.

He also encouraged adherents to intensify acts of charity during the holy month by showing love and extending support to the less privileged, noting that Ramadan is a period to increase good deeds in line with the example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“I pray that Allah will accept all our deeds in this blessed and holy month and give us His Light and Peace as individuals and as a country. Ramadan Kareem,” he said.

Akinbile, who is also known for promoting interfaith dialogue, is the founder of the Caring and Sharing Sufi Centre, headquartered at the City Zawiah in Ibadan.

Ramadan 2026 officially commenced on Wednesday, February 18.
