Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to the public, particularly Regina Daniels’ fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to give the Nollywood actress space as she deals with health challenges.
Nwoko made the appeal in a lengthy statement shared on his official Instagram page on Monday, saying Regina needed love, support and an opportunity to recover rather than public criticism and speculation.
He said the appeal was also necessary for the sake of their children, who deserved to see their mother supported and given every opportunity to get better.
According to him, a video Regina shared on her birthday offered the public a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been facing.
“As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens. It is a time to show compassion and allow her the opportunity to heal,” he wrote.
Nwoko also expressed concern over the circulation of what he described as false and disturbing reports about the actress, including fabricated death announcements, misleading stories and other publications concerning her personal circumstances.
He said Regina sees many of the posts and that they cause her distress, adding that such content does not support her recovery but increases the burden she is already carrying.
The senator warned those allegedly responsible for spreading false information about her death, health and private life to stop, saying the family was documenting the publications and that those found responsible would be held accountable through appropriate legal channels.
“I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances,” he stated.

Nwoko’s appeal comes amid the highly publicised marital crisis between him and Daniels, whose relationship has been under public scrutiny since their marriage in 2019.
The actress married the politician in April 2019, when she was 19, while Nwoko was 59. Their union attracted widespread attention because of their approximately 40-year age difference and Nwoko’s polygamous family structure. The couple later welcomed two sons, Munir, born in June 2020, and Khalifa, born in June 2022.
For years, the couple shared aspects of their family life on social media, with Daniels publicly celebrating their wedding anniversaries and describing their home as blessed. However, signs of tension became increasingly visible in 2025, culminating in a public dispute in October of that year.
The crisis escalated after videos emerged showing Daniels emotionally distressed as she accused Nwoko of domestic violence. She also made allegations about her treatment within the marriage and her relationship with his household.
Nwoko denied the allegations of domestic violence and, in response, accused the actress of substance and alcohol abuse, arguing that she needed rehabilitation. Daniels subsequently disputed aspects of his account, while both sides made further claims during the public disagreement.
The disagreement later extended to their children, with Daniels alleging that she had been denied access to them. The matter became the subject of a custody dispute before an Abuja Family Court. In June 2026, reports indicated that the court had granted temporary custody of the two boys to Nwoko, with conditions attached to Daniels’ access to them.
In September 2026, fresh speculation about a possible reconciliation followed Daniels’ visit to Nwoko’s residence. However, her mother, Rita Daniels, dismissed the reports, explaining that the actress had only gone to see her children and that the visit did not mean the couple had reunited.
Against this background, Nwoko’s latest appeal has renewed public attention on the actress’s well-being and the strained relationship between the estranged couple.
He maintained that Regina deserved compassion and the opportunity to recover without being subjected to fabricated reports or further public scrutiny.
