Tinubu Commissions Upgraded Akwa Ibom Airport Facilities

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, praising Governor Umo Eno for completing a project conceived by previous administrations.

Tinubu inaugurated the facility on Friday shortly after landing at the airport for a state visit. His engagements include the commissioning of several major projects and a grand reception in his honour at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Describing his visit as a return to familiar grounds, the President recalled his previous connections with Akwa Ibom, including his time in the state as a mobile auditor and his involvement in activities related to its development.

He said, “For me, this visit is a homecoming. I deeply grateful for the state’s progress, most especially huge contributions of successive administrations to its growth.”

Tinubu also acknowledged the contributions of former Governor Victor Attah, whose name was given to the airport, noting that the facility represented the fulfilment of a development vision initiated several years ago.

He praised Eno for maintaining the commitment of successive administrations to the project and ensuring its completion, describing the inauguration as an important achievement in the state’s infrastructure and economic growth.

“I must commend Governor Umo Eno for sustaining the vision of successive administrations and for bringing the airport project to fruition. This is a significant milestone in Akwa Ibom’s infrastructural advancement and economic development and I thank you all”, he said.

The President said the airport would improve connectivity, ease the movement of people, encourage cultural integration and create wider economic opportunities by linking Akwa Ibom with other parts of the country and the international community.

The commissioning represents a new milestone in the state’s aviation sector and highlights the role of continuity in governance in transforming long-standing development plans into completed projects.
