Abia State has announced a state burial for the late evangelist, Uma Ukpai, set for Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia.
The arrangements follow a recent State Executive Council briefing.
Ukpai, who passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80, was a leading figure in Nigeria’s evangelical community.
His ministry spanned decades and was distinguished by large-scale crusades, religious teachings, and humanitarian initiatives that impacted communities across the country and beyond.
The state government is coordinating with Ukpai’s family and church leaders to ensure a funeral ceremony befitting his stature.

Officials expect the event to draw top government figures, clergy, and dignitaries from across Nigeria.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu praised Ukpai’s legacy and encouraged the state to immortalise his contributions as part of the burial events.
