Nigerian actor Taye Arimoro has filed a legal claim against Nollywood actress and producer, Peggy Ovire, demanding a public apology and compensation of ₦100 million over an alleged assault incident that reportedly occurred on a movie set.
The dispute took place on November 11, after Arimoro claimed he had concluded his scheduled scenes and attempted to leave the set. According to the actor, Ovire allegedly obstructed his vehicle, insisting he stay back to film two additional scenes. He further alleged that the situation escalated, leading to his unlawful detention and physical assault by Ovire and her team members.
In a formal demand letter issued by his legal representatives and shared on his Instagram page, Arimoro accused Ovire of violating his fundamental rights, including his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, and freedom of movement. The letter described the alleged actions as “unlawful, inhuman, and degrading,” stating that the experience caused him emotional distress, psychological trauma, and financial loss.
The legal notice demands that Peggy Ovire make a public video apology to be posted and permanently retained on all her social media platforms, including her verified Instagram handle. Additionally, Arimoro is seeking ₦100 million in damages for the alleged harassment and assault.

However, Ovire has reportedly refuted the claims, alleging instead that Arimoro became confrontational and assaulted her production manager during the heated exchange.
Arimoro’s legal team has given Peggy Ovire seven days to comply with the demands or face legal action for enforcement of his rights. As of the time of this report, Ovire has not released any official statement or response to the legal demands.
The incident has sparked conversations across the Nollywood industry regarding professionalism, workplace ethics, and the protection of actors’ rights on movie sets.
