Nigerian actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has publicly criticized the treatment of a female passenger who was allegedly stripped naked by airline or airport staff before being removed from a plane, with footage of the incident reportedly shared online.
In a statement posted on her verified Instagram account on Tuesday, Njoku acknowledged that removing the woman from the flight may have been necessary but described the act of stripping her as “dehumanizing” and “unacceptable.” She questioned how trained aviation personnel could engage in such conduct, emphasizing that their role should never involve publicly humiliating individuals, regardless of alleged offences.
“I have seen police parade even criminals and alleged murderers, and they still ensure those people are dressed and their private parts are covered,” Njoku wrote. “Authorities do not parade people naked. How much more should we expect from airline officials? They are not thugs.”
The actress stressed that the incident not only violated the woman’s dignity but also reflected poorly on the treatment of Nigerian women. She called for compensation to be awarded to the victim for the damage caused to her life and reputation, insisting that accountability was essential.

“This is NOT acceptable. Absolutely NOT acceptable,” Njoku concluded.
The post has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the handling of the situation and demanding answers from the relevant airline and aviation authorities.
