The Adamawa State Government has imposed a full 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a renewed outbreak of communal violence that erupted on Sunday evening.
The directive was announced on Monday in a statement issued by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri ordered an immediate security response, directing security agencies to move into the affected communities to restore peace and prevent further unrest.
According to the statement, the decision became necessary after reports of escalating tensions and clashes that threatened to spiral out of control.
“The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following a renewed communal clash that broke out on Sunday evening,” the statement read.

It added that security operatives have been instructed to take swift action to stabilise the situation and protect residents.
The government appealed to the people of Lamurde to remain calm and cooperate with deployed security personnel, assuring them that measures are being taken to forestall any further breakdown of law and order.
The latest unrest adds to a growing list of security challenges recorded in parts of the state in recent months, prompting calls for intensified peacebuilding efforts across local communities.
