Adamawa Govt Urges Successful Applicants to Ignore Fake Letters, Await Official Appointments

The Adamawa State Government has advised candidates who were successful in the recent civil service recruitment exercise to stay calm, assuring them that their official employment letters will be delivered through their individual email addresses.

The call for calm was issued on Thursday afternoon following the discovery of irregularities in the circulation of appointment letters, including reports that some unsuccessful applicants had been issued fake offers.

The Adamawa State Civil Service Commission explained that although genuine appointment notifications were originally planned for release on the 31st of December, 2025, unforeseen circumstances have caused a delay in the process.

Speaking on the development, the Permanent Secretary of the commission, Abubakar Maiha, appealed to applicants to exercise patience, stressing that efforts are ongoing to ensure that only authentic appointment letters are released before the end of the week.

Maiha’s reassurance came about 24 hours after the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Awwal Tukur, briefed journalists on the challenges that disrupted the recruitment exercise and the steps taken by the government to restore what was intended to be a transparent and merit-based process.

Tukur revealed that the exercise was compromised by job racketeers who issued appointment letters to unqualified individuals, but emphasized that such letters would be invalid. He maintained that only offers generated from the original list of qualified candidates and transmitted electronically to their personal email accounts would be recognised.

He further disclosed that 4,200 applicants eventually made the final list for employment in the civil service.
It was recalled that more than 90,000 applicants initially applied when the recruitment exercise commenced early in 2025.

According to the government, candidates were subjected to multiple stages of screening at different intervals, with the number first reduced to over 50,000, then trimmed to about 8,000, and finally narrowed down to the 4,200 applicants now cleared to receive their appointment letters.
