The Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could be voted out in 2027 if opposition groups align under one front.
Speaking on the 10th of July, 2025, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, Ondo State, the former Osun State governor told party members that the ADC is working on a nationwide alliance to mount serious opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
“Let us put personal interests aside and unite. We have multiple elections ahead presidential, National Assembly, and state elections and with unity, we cannot be defeated,” Aregbesola said.
He stated that prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi are backing the coalition effort led by the ADC.
Aregbesola also warned that the APC may deploy coordinated misinformation tactics aimed at discrediting the growing movement. He urged members to avoid distractions and stay committed to the bigger goal.
Present at the gathering include Gbenga Edema, a former NNPP governorship candidate in Ondo State, who accused the ruling APC of engineering propaganda to question the credibility of the coalition.
“The court cases being hyped are mere distractions. They have no bearing on our political activities,” Edema said. He praised Aregbesola for shedding light on key issues affecting the party and the country.

Hon. Akin Akinbobola, once a top member of the APC and former aide to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, criticised the state of the nation. He urged all opposition forces to come together to “rescue Nigeria from sinking.”
“Nigeria is in distress insecurity, hunger, and collapsed infrastructure are everyday realities. The ADC is offering a vehicle to restore hope through unity and reform,” Akinbobola said.
He added that the coalition is expanding, with over ten political parties already engaged in recent strategy sessions.
“We are building a large political force. It will be like a tsunami sweeping across the country. The challenge is managing the size, but there’s room for everyone,” he noted.
The Akure meeting signals renewed momentum by opposition groups under the ADC banner to galvanise support before 2027, amid rising public frustration over worsening living conditions and poor governance.
