President Bola Tinubu has left Abuja for Paris, France, embarking on a private visit en route to Addis Ababa, where he will participate in key African Union meetings.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the trip to France is part of a broader diplomatic itinerary.
“While in France, President Tinubu will meet with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron,” Onanuga confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The meeting in Paris underscores the significance of strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and France amid an evolving global landscape.
Although the visit is described as “private,” the discussions with President Macron are expected to cover areas of mutual interest, ranging from economic cooperation to strategic partnerships.
After his engagement in France, President Tinubu is scheduled to fly to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will join other African leaders at the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State, taking place from February 12th to 16th, 2025.
The summit is anticipated to address key issues affecting the continent, including economic integration, security challenges, and developmental strategies.
The President’s departure was marked by the use of the new presidential jet, a symbol of Nigeria’s modernized approach to its international engagements.
