In a bid to prevent unrest ahead of the planned August #EndBadGovernance protest, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has called on youths in Abuja to forgo the demonstration and engage in dialogue instead.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with youth stakeholders, traditional rulers, and representatives from various groups in the Bwari Area Council on Monday, Wike emphasized the importance of addressing grievances through discussion rather than protest.
He assured attendees that President Bola Tinubu is committed to advancing the nation’s progress despite current economic challenges.
During his remarks, Wike praised the participants for their willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. He also announced new infrastructure developments, including the creation of a youth secretariat within the FCT Administration (FCTA) and the establishment of police stations in each area council to enhance security.
“I appreciate everyone here today for choosing dialogue over dissent,” Wike said.
“President Tinubu continues to work tirelessly to improve our country, and we believe that by working together, we can overcome these challenges.”
Wike urged Abuja youths to shun the upcoming protest and instead focus on collaborative efforts to address their concerns, promising that improvements are on the horizon.
Recently, the FCT Minister has been using every opportunity to appeal to Abuja residents to shun the planned protest.
