Lagos Youths Stage Solidarity March to Counter Hunger Protest

In a show of support for the Tinubu-led administration, a group of youths in Lagos State held a solidarity march on Monday, aiming to counter the planned nationwide protest against hunger and economic hardship set to begin on August 1, 2024.

The protest, which has gained momentum on social media, is backed by prominent figures including presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi.

It has been scheduled to address widespread concerns about economic challenges and rising hunger levels in Nigeria.

The Lagos youths, who gathered from various parts of the state, marched through key areas including Lagos Island, Obalende, Ikoyi, and Lekki. They voiced their support for the current administration and urged Nigerians to avoid violent demonstrations.

Drawing parallels to the 2020 #EndSARS protests, which resulted in significant property damage and loss of lives, the participants warned of the potential for similar unrest. They emphasized their commitment to preventing any recurrence of the violence experienced during those protests.

Their demonstration reflects a significant local response to the upcoming nationwide protests, with the aim of maintaining peace and supporting the administration amid widespread economic discontent.
